Kay Guyer | Art Therapist

Pronouns | They/Them/Theirs

Kay Guyer holds a Bachelor's in Peace Studies from Manchester University and a Master's of Art Therapy Counseling from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Their background includes intersectional LGBTQ organizing, environmental education and youth advocacy, conflict transformation, and providing art therapy that connects personal transformation with systemic change. Kay’s work is centered at the intersection of social justice, community arts, and mental health. An example of this work is their participatory action research project with intersectional activists in St. Louis, Missouri aimed at supporting activist sustainability through collaborative artmaking. They are also on the facilitation team for SuperVisionaries, an online platform for therapists with intersectional identities in the creative arts therapies to connect for mutual support and collaboration. Kay is currently working as an art therapist with youth in the bay area. Kay hopes their artwork inspires viewers to center marginalized folks, listen to them well, and take collective action to shift power dynamics and experience flourishing communities!
